It all depends on whether you like your bees very bee-like, or not quite so leggy and insectlike. If you spend a lot of time gazing at your hive, you kinda grow to love the dangly little bee legs. As a gift item, your friends might not bee quite so happy with the gift of a bug.
I think the french have an idiom for that.
